TALX W-2 eXpress Services Simplifies W-2 Season for More Than 150 Employers During 2003 Tax Season

ST. LOUIS, MO, Apr. 27, 2004 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- TALX Corporation (NASDAQ: TALX), a leading business process outsourcer of payroll data-centric services, announced today that more than 150 employers nationwide relied on TALX W-2 eXpress(SM) to manage the W-2 process, relieving the burden on their payroll departments and eliminating the need to hire temporary staff to manage the increased volume of requests during tax season.

W-2 eXpress services automate the printing and distribution of original W-2s as well as the reissue and correction processes. Employees can securely access their W-2s using the Internet or the telephone. In the recent tax season, more than 8.5 million W-2s were available through W-2 eXpress for easy access by employees, reflecting approximately 40% growth over last year.

In addition, more than 200,000 employees elected to receive their original W-2s electronically using W-2 eXpress. Those employees who consent to receive their original statements electronically in place of a printed statement can access their W-2s online via the Internet. This online access is faster than the traditional mail delivery and saves printing and postage costs for employers.

W-2 eXpress also enables clients' employees to import W-2s directly into tax preparation software. In the most recent tax season, more than 30,000 W-2s were imported using W-2 eXpress. This online process eliminates the need for employees to manually prepare tax forms or re-enter data, significantly reducing errors and speeding up the tax filing process.

Clients provide their W-2 data to W-2 eXpress using a standard file format. TALX loads the data and maintains up to four years of W-2 data on the service, which is consistent with IRS data retention requirements. In total, TALX has more than 23 million W-2s on its W-2 eXpress service for tax years 2000 through 2003. TALX maintains the highest level of security and ensures complete employee data privacy in W-2 eXpress, as well as all of its other Payroll/HR services.
