Employers And Employees Benefit From Electronic W-2s Issued By TALX

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2005--TALX Corporation (NASDAQ:TALX), a leading provider of payroll and HR services, announced today that 5.6 million employees of TALX clients are eligible to receive their W-2s electronically this tax season, up 67% from the 2003 tax year. This increase reflects the trend by employers to provide information to employees electronically to reduce costs and boost service levels.

"The volume of electronic W-2s we distribute each year continues to increase because it offers so many advantages to employees and employers," said William Canfield, president and chief executive officer of TALX. "Employees receive the benefit of accessing their W-2s online when it's convenient for them. And, since an electronic W-2 arrives faster than a mailed W-2, employees eligible for a refund can file for their tax returns sooner."

TALX also makes it easier for employees by maintaining partnerships with companies providing leading automated tax return products. Through these partnerships, client employees can choose from seven different tax return products that electronically import W-2 information directly into tax returns, allowing them to be completed faster with fewer errors.

Employers benefit with electronic W-2s by providing an enhanced service to their employees while saving the cost of paper, assembly, and postage associated with a paper-intensive, manual process.

In total, TALX W-2 eXpress will provide electronic and paper W-2 services to 10.5 million client employees for the 2004 tax year.
